The Broadview Materials surface offering encompasses FENIX® innovative materials and Getacore® solid surfaces, as well as high pressure laminates (HPL), through world-renowned Formica®, Arpa® and Homapal® brands.
Each of our laminate brands is known for their unique heritage and approach: Formica® is the original inventor of HPL; Arpa® has all the style of made-in-Italy product; and Homapal® offers real metal decors. Yet, they have more than one thing in common: they are made primary of paper and are durable with a high resistance to scratches, impacts, abrasions, chemical substances, and heat. These characteristics make them ideal for a wide range of interior design applications.
One ongoing misconception is that laminates are made of plastic. However, the primary materials used to create our decorative laminates are paper and/or wood-based fibers sourced from responsibly managed forests.
The laminates combine a core made of multiple layers of kraft paper and a decorative surface, which can be a colour, décor or, in the case of Homapal, a metal foil. The core and decorative surface are impregnated with thermosetting resins, before the layers are built up and pressed with high pressure and temperature to produce a homogenous, non-porous material.
The thermal lamination process, in combination with the thermosetting resins, creates strong, irreversible bonds that contribute to the closed surface and durability of laminates.
Able to withstand blunt object impact without damage.
their density makes them resistant to scratches and wear.
temperature changes do not affect their properties.
the non-porous surface provides a hygienic solution.
their closed surface does not allow dirt to stick.
their surface is UV resistant and is not subject to discoloration.
They are easy to machine, as they can be fabricated with standard carpenter tools, and their durability makes them suitable for multiple environments and applications, providing a long-term surface solution.
Overall, all Broadview Materials surfaces and solutions are a combination of design, sustainability and innovation.
